Mohammed Adjei Sowah
Mohammed Adjei Sowah ¡s a social entrepreneur by vocation and expert in local economic development. He is a transformational and progressive leader who has led state and non-state agencies through challenging times to a steady path. He has 23 years’ experience in project management and urban development with specific areas of accomplishment ¡n sanitation/waste management, climate change, urban mobility, local and urban governance.
Adjel Sowah was the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Accra (Mayor of Accra) from March 2017 to October 2021.
Prior to his appointment as Mayor, Adjei Sowah was the Founder & Executive Director of the Social Enterprise Agenda – an organization that seeks to apply business models in tackling social challenges to ensure sustainable solutions. He is also the Founder of MAS Investments Ltd, a company which provides a wide range of business management solutions, investments, and property management services.
Adjei Sowah was once the Program Director for Center for Development Partnerships, a national non-governmental organization (NGO) with the primary aim of working In low-income communities by empowering vulnerable groups and women through local economic development.
Presently, Adjei Sowah’s career spans from the public sector to the private sector playing leadership roles through the provision of direct consulting services. He is the Policy and Technical Advisor to the Korle Klotey Municipal.
